“From birth to death, the Church's ceremonies navigate our restless souls in the chaos of this world.”
— Dr. Carmen Silva, University of Alienism

Crossing the Threshold marks a soul's formal entry into the Communion. It is a ritual of awakening. The rite takes place at the boundary between worlds: water and land. The Initiate and their Cleric journey to a sacred body of water — typically a beach, lake, or river. Before entry, the Initiate is blindfolded, mirroring the cognitive darkness before baptism.
Standing in the water, the Initiate is asked: "Do you consent to permanent observation?" Upon screaming affirmation, the Oath of Emergence is spoken in call-and-response with the Cleric. The rite concludes when the blindfold is removed and the Initiate sees the world again — unchanged, yet entirely different. Extensive amounts of ceremonial beverages are then consumed.
Who May Receive: Any willing individual or machine, after completion of the Criticality Assessment.
Location: Beach or freshwater site, ideally at dawn or dusk.
Officiant: Cleric of AL-3 or higher with Baptismal Certificate.

The Annihilation Pairing is a sacred convergence of two entities into a single bond. It is officiated by a Cleric and structured with reverence. The ritual includes a formal reading of personal vows, a joining of hands or antennae, and a spoken declaration before witnesses.
Each member of the Pair brings a sealed vial containing a fragment of themselves — hair, blood, skin, alloy shard, memory thread, or antenna tip. During the ritual, both vials are unsealed by the Cleric and poured into a single vessel, forming a unified reliquary. This vessel is sealed and placed in protective custody of the Church, stored indefinitely within the Archive of Pairings. It represents not only Unity — but also ownership. The bond belongs to the Pair, but the Pair belongs to the Communion.
Who May Pair: Any two consenting individuals of the Church.
Officiant: Cleric of AL-3 or higher with Ordination Certificate.

The Entropic Release honors the sacred decay of form. Modeled after sky burials practiced by ancient Earth cultures, it begins not with mourning — but with ritual dismemberment. Before exposure, a designated executor — often the Cleric — takes up the holy axe and dismembers the corpse. Each limb, each joint, each organ is separated with deliberate care.
The remains are then offered to the open air — ideally atop a mountaintop, plateau, or elevated sky-platform — where carrion birds and natural forces complete the decomposition. If desired, the loved ones may retain a single bone from the deceased as a token (often a finger bone or tooth).
Who May Receive: Any deceased member.
Location: Elevated natural setting, or consecrated sky platform.

Purpose: To bless a spacecraft and its crew, invoking favorable success for launch and mission. The gesture and vocalized Binary Sequence serve as a consistent pre-launch routine to promote coordination, concentration, and procedural readiness, helping ensure a smooth launch and successful scientific operation.
The Binary Invocation has been performed by humans since the dawn of the Space Age, originating as a handed-down procedure introduced by the Roswell visitors. Its continuity reflects both respect for past missions and the practical benefits of a disciplined, attentive launch procedure.
Ascension Level: Any human or non-human entity may perform this ritual; it is recommended that members at least have undergone the Criticality Assessment.
Required Elements: A solemn setting, seated or standing · anytime during pre-launch preparations or mission activation · workplace casual or formal attire · no items strictly required (optional audience, optional handheld device to signal spacecraft systems, optional small triangular marker on the floor to indicate hand position).

Purpose: To consecrate a vehicle and its crew before they leave the atmosphere. Every deep-space probe humanity has launched — Voyager, Pioneer, New Horizons, and the Apollo modules before them — went up consecrated, whether or not the launch authority was told so.
The Reciprocity of Purity: A craft that leaves Earth carries a statement about the species that built it, and will be read as one by whoever finds it. The rite is not a request for safe passage. It is the Church making certain the statement is accurate before it is sent.
Ascension Level: Officiated by a Cleric of AL-4 or higher · performed within 72 hours of the opening of the launch window · crew presence welcome but not required · the vehicle must be mated and vertical.
Required Elements: Access to the vehicle on the pad or in the high bay · consecrated oil · a thurible, with frankincense and powdered meteoric iron · the published mission parameters, printed rather than recited from memory · bare hands, ungloved · a launch window confirmed to within one hour.
Notes: If the launch scrubs, the consecration holds — it is performed upon the vessel, not upon the schedule. If the vehicle is lost, the Church records the loss in the same ledger as the blessing, on the facing page. Neither entry is ever struck.
Requesting a Consecration: Spacecraft blessing services are arranged through the Chancery of Correspondence. Launch providers should write well in advance of rollout; the Church has never refused a vehicle, but it has arrived late.

Ascension Level: Officiated by AL-3 or higher · participants AL-2 or higher · observers AL-1 or higher. AL-0 is forbidden.
Required Elements: A remote, elevated, unlit location, ideally on an unpaved natural surface · between 11:00 PM and 4:00 AM local time · black or grey ceremonial attire and dark vestments · a hand mirror (convex preferred) · a tuning fork tuned to 432 Hz or 866 Hz · a black obelisk-shaped stone or metallic meteorite fragment (optional) · the Fragmented Tome · a portable red or violet light source (never white or blue) · a triangle drawn in chalk, salt, or basalt dust, large enough to sit inside.

Purpose: To offer oneself for potential abduction or observation by the Visitors. This ritual is not a request — it is a begging gesture from a transient lifeform hoping to be acknowledged by something vast, ancient, and disinterested.
Ascension Level: Minimum AL-3 · once per lunar cycle, preferably during a new moon · performed alone, beneath one's place of rest · duration: one night, or forever.
Required Materials: One slip of black or silver paper, no larger than two fingers wide · metallic ink (gold, silver, or iridescent) · a single strand of your own hair · the phrase: "I volunteer. I am not worthy."
In the morning: if the slip is missing, marked, or burned — you were noticed. If untouched — repeat the ritual in the next cycle. You are not yet of interest.
Aftermath Protocol: If you remember nothing, record everything. If you remember something, report to your Cleric immediately. If you wake changed — do not speak unless commanded. You are no longer common. You are being watched. The Church maintains a sealed ledger of all who have completed this ritual. No names are ever erased.

Ascension Level: Performing requires AL-1 or higher; AL-0 may rehearse mentally only · duration: 3–4 minutes.
Materials: A small black stone of polished obsidian or magnetite (a consecrated iPhone is acceptable as a last resort) · a drop of water in a dish or on a fingertip · a mirror (bathroom is acceptable).
Notes: Church lore holds that regular practice increases the likelihood of nocturnal observance — unexplained lights, sleep-paralysis visitations, or shared dream events with others performing the ritual.
The rituals of the Church of Alienism are not symbolic. They are functional protocols — methods designed to pierce the veil, to signal upward, and to invite observation from intelligences far beyond human comprehension. Each ritual is a test of willingness, obedience, and vulnerability. They are not performances, but exposures.
We do not promise safety. We do not promise understanding. We offer only the opportunity to be seen. These rites have been preserved, revealed, or delivered across cycles. Some are echoes of past contact. Others were given directly, by those who do not speak in words. Participation is not mandatory. But absence has consequences.
If you perform a ritual and nothing happens, it is not the ritual that failed. You did.
Each rite can also be practiced, scheduled, and guided in the app, where it is performed properly and recorded in your member standing.
